Real Founders,
On Camera.
North East BIC wanted to show what its Enterprising Sunderland programme had done, at the event held to celebrate it. We filmed the people it helped, in their own gyms, cafes, shops and offices, and cut two short films with animated titles.
- WHO — North East BIC, for the Enterprising Sunderland programme
- WHAT — Filming, Interviews, Event Filming, Video Editing, Motion Graphics, Captions
- WHEN — 2025
- WHERE — Sunderland
- HOW — Interviews and B-roll filmed on location, cut into two short films with captioned and clean versions
Two Films,
One Celebration.
Enterprising Sunderland is a programme run by a group of partners including North East BIC and Sunderland City Council, funded by the UK Government. It helps local people start a business and helps existing firms try new ideas. BIC asked us for two videos to show at the Enterprising Sunderland celebration event: one about new business start-ups, one about innovation.
- Film 1: New Business Start-Ups
- Film 2: Innovation projects and Growth Lab
- Made to play on a big screen at the event
Their Place,
Not a Studio.
A programme film is only as good as the people in it. So we went to them. A boxing gym, a family eatery, a florist’s shop, a stable yard and a high street office. Each founder sat down for a short interview, then we filmed them at work so the edit could show the business, not just talk about it.
- Interviews filmed where each business runs
- B-roll of the work itself: training, cooking, flower arranging
- Simple questions: how was the support, how did you find it?
New Businesses,
Told by Owners.
The start-up film follows a handful of people who used the programme to get going. A young gym owner, the couple behind Jom Makan Eatery, a florist with her own shop and others. We kept the questions short and let them answer in their own words, then cut each story down to the moments that explain it best.
- Several founder stories in one short film
- Name and business titles for every speaker
- Shop fronts, logos and products cut in as proof
Ideas Being
Tested for Real.
The second film covers the innovation side of the programme. We filmed at Growth Lab in Sunderland, the workshop and event sessions run for local firms, and interviewed businesses with projects under way. That included a Creators Academy masterclass, a foresight project and AR Power’s drone technology for solar panels.
- Filming at Growth Lab Sunderland in February 2025
- Interviews with business owners and programme staff
- Each project introduced with its own title card
Event Footage
With Energy.
Talking heads alone can feel flat on a big screen. So we also filmed the Growth Lab sessions as they happened: the room filling up, people clapping, speakers on stage. Those shots give the film pace and show that the programme is about people in a room together, not just forms and grants.
- Live event filming at Growth Lab
- Audience reaction shots to break up interviews
- Stage moments used as transitions
Numbers You
Can Read Fast.
BIC had results to share from the programme. Rather than read them out, we turned them into bold animated title cards in the programme’s purple and green, with the partner and funder logos at the start and end. Speaker names and questions pop on screen in the same style, so both films feel like one set.
- Animated stat cards using the programme’s own figures
- Partner and funder logo cards
- Animated name titles and question captions
- Captioned and clean versions of each film
Ready for
the Big Screen.
We delivered both films in full HD, each around three minutes long, in time for the celebration event. Each came as a captioned version for social media and a clean version for showing in the room. North East BIC is also where Northern is based, so this was a job for our own business community.
- Two finished films, about three minutes each
- Full HD exports, captioned and clean
- Shown at the Enterprising Sunderland celebration
