Built for everyone.
Northern Digital is committed to making the web work for everyone. Every website we design, build and maintain — including this one — is built to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
What we commit to
Every site we ship has the following baked in from the first wireframe, not bolted on at the end:
- Colour contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 AA ratios for body text, UI components and graphical elements.
- Full keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable and operable without a mouse, with visible focus styles.
- Semantic HTML and proper heading structure so the page makes sense to screen readers and assistive tech.
- ARIA labels and landmarks where native HTML semantics aren’t enough.
- Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images, and empty alt attributes for decorative ones.
- Forms with associated labels, error messaging, and clear validation feedback.
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motion— animation is suppressed for users who’ve asked their device to reduce motion. - Skip links so keyboard users can jump straight past the navigation to the main content.
Standard we follow
This site, and every site we deliver, conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where practicable we go beyond AA to meet AAA criteria — particularly for colour contrast on body text and headings.
We test against the standard manually and with automated tools (axe DevTools, Lighthouse, keyboard-only navigation, VoiceOver and NVDA screen readers).
Known limitations
We’re honest about where things aren’t perfect. Current known limitations on this site:
- A small number of legacy blog post images imported from our previous WordPress site may have generic alt text. We’re working through these.
- Embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos rely on those platforms’ native captioning, which varies by video. Where captions aren’t available, we provide a written summary nearby.
- Some third-party widgets (analytics, CRM forms) are outside of our direct control and may not fully meet AA. We choose vendors carefully and request fixes when issues are found.
Reporting an accessibility issue
If you find anything on this site that doesn’t work for you, or you need information in a different format, please get in touch. We’ll do our best to fix it within 10 working days.

Our wider commitment
Northern Digital is a Disability Confident employer and a Living Wage employer. We believe accessibility — on the web and off — is a baseline, not a feature. Every site we ship is built that way.
