Two Brands,
One Community.
Our1 Community runs creative and social projects for young people across the North East. We built its website, then created the brand, guidelines and website for One Academy, the skills education offer it runs with The Enterprise Academy.
- WHO — Our1 Community and One Academy, youth empowerment and skills education
- WHAT — Website Design & Build, Brand Concepts, Logo, Brand Guidelines, Website Copy Plan
- WHEN — 2025
- WHERE — North East England
- HOW — A loud, hand-made look for the charity and a calmer, trusted brand for the education side
Loud Enough
for Young People.
Our1 Community helps young people build skills, find opportunities and shape their own futures, through projects on the arts, social justice and the environment. Its website had to feel bold and street level to young people, while still being clear enough for funders, schools and partners.
- One site for young people, volunteers and funders
- Every programme easy to find from the homepage
- Clear routes to join, partner or sponsor
Brick Walls
and Spray Paint.
We built the look from the ground up: a white brick wall covered in hand-drawn doodles, lightning bolts and a raised fist, with graffiti-style headings in pink and yellow. We made the background artwork ourselves so it could stretch behind every section. The words stay plain and short, so the style never gets in the way of the message.
- Custom street-art backgrounds and illustrations
- Graffiti headings with plain, readable body text
- Built on WordPress so the team can edit it
Every Project
Gets a Door.
Our1 Community runs several projects, each with its own name and logo. The homepage gives each one a clear card and button: One Academy for skills and qualifications, Spotlight for young musicians, GreenSteps Youth Network for sustainability, and Don’t Dis My Ability for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Programme cards with their own logos
- Short summary and a button for each
- Sponsor and partner calls to action
Three Routes
to Choose From.
One Academy brings together The Enterprise Academy and Our1 Community to deliver skills education for 15 to 25 year olds. It needed its own brand. We started with a concept deck: who the brand is for, what it stands for, a mood board, then three full directions, Organised Chaos, Gradient Expression and High Energy Brush, each shown on real layouts.
- Audience, brand message and mood board first
- Three complete creative directions
- Each route shown on social and web mock-ups
Finding
the Right One.
The brand had to work for young people and for the funders and schools who pay for programmes. So we worked up a second round of wordmarks around the word “one”: a script version, a stacked block version, a 1a monogram and a version built from overlapping circles. The circles route became the final logo.
- Four wordmark routes in the second round
- Built around the word “one”
- Chosen route: overlapping circles
Circles That
Join Up.
The final logo is drawn from circles on a grid, with the letters overlapping where they meet. It stands for two organisations coming together, and for the different paths young people take. It comes in full colour, reversed, mono and light versions so it works on any background.
- Custom wordmark built on a circle grid
- Colour, reversed, black and light versions
- SVG, PNG and JPG artwork supplied
Rules Anyone
Can Follow.
We wrote and designed a brand guidelines document so staff and partners use the brand the same way. It covers the mission, brand message and audience, the logo and its colour styles, Gotham Rounded type, a deep teal, berry red, green, sky and cream palette, and a set of circle and leaf shapes taken from the logo for use as accents.
- Brand overview, mission and audience
- Logo use, colour styles and typography
- Five-colour palette and accent shapes
Calm, Clear
and Trusted.
The One Academy site uses the new brand in full: big soft curves taken from the logo, teal and cream sections and real photos of young people on the programmes. We planned the copy page by page first, covering qualifications and enrichment, Straight Talk and networking, and membership packages for schools, then built every page with a clear next step.
- Page-by-page copy plan before the build
- Pages for qualifications, Straight Talk and memberships
- Real programme photos, not stock
- Contact form and map on the homepage
