Their Name,
Our Designs.
In 2021 a web agency brought us in to design websites for their clients. We worked behind the scenes and the agency presented the work as their own. Three very different briefs came through: a trade furniture shop, a B2B marketing agency and a food and events brand with an illustrated website.
- WHO — A UK web agency (name withheld at their request)
- WHAT — Website Design, Ecommerce Design, UI Design, Page Templates
- WHEN — 2021
- WHERE — Remote, working to the agency’s briefs
- HOW — White-label: designed by Northern, delivered under the agency’s name
Behind the Scenes,
On Their Brief.
Agencies get busy. When they have more work than designers, they need someone who can pick up a brief, match their standards and stay out of sight. That was our job here. The agency ran the client relationship. We designed the pages, took feedback through them and handed over files the agency could work from.
- Briefs, feedback and sign-off all ran through the agency
- No Northern branding on anything the end client saw
- Design files handed over for the agency’s build
- Three projects across three different sectors
Nine Templates,
One Shop.
The first brief was for a furniture supplier that sells to the trade: holiday parks, hotels, landlords and care providers. We did the website design for nine templates. The homepage splits visitors straight away: log in with your trade details, or start shopping. Below that come product categories, popular products and a section for each type of buyer.
- Homepage, shop category, product page and about page
- Services overview and single service pages
- Gallery, testimonials and contact pages
- Trade account sign-up placed throughout
Eight Pages,
One Round In.
The second brief was a website for a B2B marketing agency. We designed eight templates: home, about, contact, a work overview and case study page, a news overview and article page, and a “life at” careers page. Soft gradient buttons and a dark news section give it a modern feel. The homepage was shared with the agency for a first round of feedback.
- Eight desktop templates at 1920px
- Work grid and case study layout for their portfolio
- News and careers sections to show the team
- Homepage shared for a first feedback round
One Big Picture,
Five Moving Parts.
The third brief was for a new food and events brand. The agency asked us to build their homepage: one huge illustration, supplied as layers, where each part links to the rest of the site. The brief set out exactly how each part should move. A lighthouse flicks on and off. A swinging sign links to online ordering. A buoy lights up to open the menu. A neon sign flickers before linking to events.
- Supplied layered artwork for one long scrolling page
- Timed animations for the lighthouse, buoy and neon sign
- Hover states on desktop, timed loops on mobile
- Grey overlay that fades in as you scroll down
Three Versions,
Same Story.
The illustration had to carry on past the homepage. We laid out the events listing page in three versions, each using a different layer of the artwork as the background. Every event card sits inside an orange tentacle frame taken from the illustration, with a date, a price and a clear “Book tickets” button. A month and year filter sits at the top.
- Three background options drawn from the artwork
- Event cards with date, price and booking button
- Month and year filters
- Social feed and newsletter sign-up below the listings
Extra Hands,
No Fuss.
If you run an agency and need more design capacity, we can work the same way for you. We follow your process, your file formats and your client’s brand. Your client deals with you. See our web design service for what we can take on.
- Website and page template design to your brief
- Feedback rounds handled through you
- Build-ready files for your developers
